I was a bride once, and I remember the overwhelming feeling of searching for the perfect wedding venue—the one I had always dreamed of. But when I saw how much they cost, it nearly crushed me.
Luckily, California has so many budget-friendly options that are even more breathtaking than some of the most popular (and expensive) venues.
Here’s a list of venues I’ve worked at and some I dream of capturing love stories in:
Garden Wedding Chapel — Morro Bay, California
This hidden gem is a tiny bookstore with a secret garden and a small chapel—perfect for a romantic, intimate wedding. As a bonus, Morro Rock Beach, with its stunning views, is just a 10-minute drive away, making it an incredible spot for additional wedding portraits. Best suited for 10–20 guests.

For My Fellow Forest & Mountain Lovers
As a huge fan of forests and mountains, these are two of my favorite venues for couples whose hearts belong to nature:
🌲 The Lodge at Two Moons — Nestled within 100 acres of private land, surrounded by the Sierra National Forest and Yosemite National Park, this venue is a dream for both micro-weddings and large celebrations of up to 500 guests. As a photographer, I have to say—every corner looks like a fairytale! You’ll leave with the most magical wedding photos. And let me add—the food is top-notch (trust me, I’ve tried the catering at almost every venue in California!).
🏔 Yosemite National Park — Did you know you can get married in one of the most beautiful parks in the world for just $150? That’s the cost of the necessary permits for you and your photographer! So why not elope in front of a stunning waterfall, beside a crystal-clear lake, or among the towering redwoods? Yosemite offers some of the most breathtaking backdrops in California.
🌲 SkyPark — Skyforest, California — Just a 2-hour drive from LA, this venue offers pristine forest surroundings without being too remote, ensuring your guests won’t have to travel too far. But be prepared—even in summer, it can be pretty chilly!

For a City Wedding with a Serene Atmosphere
If you prefer to stay in the city but still want a wedding in a peaceful, nature-filled setting, La Cañada Thursday Club in La Cañada Flintridge is a fantastic choice! It features a charming garden, European-style architecture, and a beautiful ceremony space under a picturesque tree on the patio.
For the Chic Architecture Lovers
If you love sleek, sophisticated, and historic architecture, then the Art Deco masterpiece, The Oviatt Penthouse & Rooftop, in Downtown Los Angeles is the venue for you. With stunning city views and incredible interiors, this space never disappoints!

Final Thoughts — choose a venue that truly reflects your identity!
California offers an incredible variety of wedding locations, from hidden gems and dreamy forests to modern city rooftops. There’s a perfect place for everyone—just find the one that resonates with you the most. And when you do, I’ll be honored to capture those unforgettable moments for you!
