The Moment That Could Have Never Happened

”… A moment I especially appreciated was when Daria prompted us to step away from taking group photos for a moment to get some time with my grandpa, who wasn’t up for most of the group activities because of his poor health. It was something I could have totally forgotten to make time for amidst the busy day, but because of Daria’s attentiveness we now have special memories and photos with him.”

If we haven’t met yet…

Hi, I’m Daria — a traveler obsessed with old movies, European architecture, and the kind of light that makes you stop in your tracks. Six years in Japan taught me to notice the details most people miss, and now in sunny California, I use that eye to capture wedding days with honesty and care.

Are you ready to make magic together?

Let’s chat!

“We looked through numerous photographers on our search. Seeking someone whose artistic feel was consistent throughout their portfolio. I dabble in photography myself and have done a number of shoots, so it was clear to see who had the right eye for the craft. When we came across Daria, both my wife and I instantly thought, “she has a good eye!”

We were looking for a photographer for four hours to shoot a small elopement in Morro Bay and wedding photos thereafter. Daria answered and we set up a video call to explore ideas. From that first meeting, instantly we could tell that Daria was a professional — she offered ideas that neither my wife nor I were even thinking about. She was helpful from the start and committed to being there on our wedding day.

The day of the wedding, Daria was ready to go with two full frame cameras at her side, sporting different lenses. Ready to capture key moments with the right tool. She was quick on her toes and took charge, but did so gracefully. That day I was running around getting last minute details set up for the ceremony, so my head was in producer mode; not “getting married” mode. When Daria pulled me aside for “first look” photos, she got my attention and helped me to get focused on my wedding day. Furthermore, she did such a great job talking to family members. Everyone there commented on how sharp and kind Daria was. Oh, and the photos were awesome! I can’t recommend Daria enough. So if you’re on the fence or considering other photographers… just book Daria!”

Q&A

How would you describe your photography style?

I work in a documentary, candid style with an artful touch, so your gallery feels honest and beautifully composed without looking overly posed.

Natural light is my favorite, whether it’s golden hour glow or soft indoor light. I also love the timeless elegance of black-and-white edits — the kind that strip away distractions and leave only pure emotion.

And if you’re into something playful and unique, we can even give your day a touch of that Wes Anderson symmetry and color magic — I’m always down for some art twists.

What’s included in your wedding / elopement packages?

Unlimited video consultations, timeline guidance, a complimentary engagement session (for weddings), individually edited images in both high-res for print and web-size for social media, a private online gallery you can share with you family & friends, and all travel fees within California.

How many photos will we get, and when?

For full-day weddings (6 hours+), you’ll receive 300–500+ fully edited photos with fully retouched portraits. But let me tell you a secret, choosing “just” 500 is the hardest part of my job. I get attached. So it usually ends up being more (because deleting beautiful moments is not my strength).

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes — and they’re included with most of my wedding packages! An engagement session is the perfect way for us to connect before the big day, ease any pre-photo jitters, and make sure you feel completely confident in my work.

Plus, you’ll have gorgeous images you can use for your wedding invitations, website, welcome board — or simply as an excuse to have more beautiful photos of just the two of you:)

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely! I’m based in Los Angeles but always down to hit the road — whether it’s the California coast, desert, mountains, forests or beyond (I love any kind of nature!).

And the best part — all travel fees are already included in all my wedding packages!

How far in advance should we book you?

If you already know your date, don’t wait too long — I book up to a year ahead, but 8-6 months is the sweet spot for weddings and elopements. The earlier you lock it in, the less you have to stress about it later.

Do you shoot film photography?

Yes! I offer 35mm film as an optional add-on for couples who love a nostalgic, raw aesthetic. You’ll receive a roll of scanned images (24-36 photos) alongside your digital gallery.

Do you offer video too?

Yes! You can add on a videography which includes cinematic highlight video (1–3 minutes) & full-day video coverage. I work with a small, trusted team to deliver high-quality, storytelling-driven films.

Can we customize a package?

Absolutely. If you don’t see the exact coverage you need, just reach out and I’ll be happy to tailor a package that fits your day.

How do we book you?

Easy — just fill out my contact form or email me to darianoirphotography@gmail.com with all the details of your event (date, hours, location etc).

After we sign an agreement and 30% booking deposit is paid — your date is officially locked!

Do you require a deposit to reserve our date?

Yes — a 30% non-refundable deposit (based on the total price) is required to secure your date.

What if we’ve never had a photo session before?

Perfect — most of my couples haven’t. I’ll guide you just enough so you don’t feel awkward, keep it natural, and make sure you actually enjoy it. Think less “posing” and more “hanging out while I happen to have a camera.”

Do you offer sneak peeks after the wedding?

Yes — and I deliver them within 24 hours. Because no one should wait weeks to see how good they looked!

What about permits and location rules?

Some spots (like beaches and parks) do require permits, but don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’m familiar with most California locations and can guide you through what’s needed. If permits are required, I’ll help you handle it or suggest equally stunning (and permit-free) alternatives. You just focus on looking cute and being in love:)

Are travel fees included in the price, or added separately?

All travel fees within California are already included. If we’re going beyond, I’ll add travel fees separately and let you know beforehand.
